برنامج dircetX أحد البرامج التي تستخدمها نظم النوافذ لكي تكون حلقة وصل بين العاب الالكترونية وبين وحدات الحاسب التي تتعامل مع الالعاب مثل الصوت والصورة ويوجد برنامج على الحاسب يقوم بمعرفة المشكلة التي توجد في directX يمكن اتباع الخطوات التالية لتشغيله: من قائمة start اختار run نكتب dxdiag ثم ok تظهر نافذة البرنامج ويتم الضغط على وظيفة sound يوجد بنافذة الصوت مفتاح باسم Test Direct Sound وهو يستخدم لاختبار الصوت
